Ferrous Metal

Morecambe Metals operate specialist processing equipment to produce an end product which is both consistent and satisfactory with customer and industry needs.

Some of the ferrous processing equipment Morecambe Metals operate includes:

Shredder: Morecambe Metals operate a 1,250 H.P. shredder capable of shredding thousands of tonnes per annum of ferrous material such as cars, light iron and white goods which results in the recovery of clean fragmentised steel either for the home market or export.

Shears: Morecambe Metals operate an 800T static shear for shearing constructional and heavier ferrous metal to the required size.

Baler: Morecambe Metals also operate a mobile car baler that we hire. This is ideal for accessing car yards so cars can be baled safely and efficiently on site.

End of Life Vehicles (ELVs)

Morecambe Metals are an authorised treatment facility (ATF) for the depollution of ELVs. We can ensure that all undepolluted vehicles are depolluted safely and to the standards set out by the Environment Agency. The depollution process involves removal of all liquids and specified items. Any customer who wishes to dispose of a vehicle at Morecambe Metals will be issued with a Certificate of Destruction (CoD).

Non-Ferrous

Morecambe Metals buy various grades of non-ferrous metal such as aluminium, copper, brass and lead. Morecambe Metals have a non-ferrous building where we buy and process most of the non-ferrous material. Various processing operations carried out in the non-ferrous building include baling, shearing and general sorting of material to produce a better and cleaner end product.

Morecambe Metals operate an Eddy Current Separator (ECS) which is a process involving magnets to recover non-ferrous metals from the shredder residue.
